Today’s Topic: Walmart

Walmart. Save Money. Live Better.

Walmart is another great place to find good sales, and to use coupons! Like Target, they do not have any kind of rewards system, but they do have an awesome coupon policy, and they allow you to do some things that no other stores will allow you to do!

What is Walmart?

Well Walmart is just about everywhere now a days, so you are more than likely able to be near a local Walmart! They are a nationwide store that carries just about everything! Their supercenters have a full grocery store side as well.

They are considered a “Low Price” store. This means they strive to already have the low prices available without sales. So they do not have Buy One Get One Free sales or anything like that. What they do have is “Roll Back Prices”. These are prices that have been lowered even further for one reason or another. You can find these “Roll Back” prices in their weekly sales ads, online, or in the stores.

-You can view their website HERE

-Corporate Phone Number: 1 (479) 273-4000, or Customer Service: 1(800) WALMART (925-6278)

-Snail Mail:

Walmart
702 SW 8th Street
Bentonville, Arkansas 72716-8611

Do They Accept Coupons?

Yes! You can view and print their Corporate Coupon Policy HERE. Here are some of the highlights in red of their Coupon Policy:

Walmart Coupon Policy

We gladly accept the following types of coupons*

  • Print-at-home internet coupons
    • Must be legible
    • Must have “Manufacturer Coupon” printed on them
    • Must have a valid remit address for the manufacturer
    • Must have a valid expiration date
    • Must have a scannable bar code
    • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons with a specified price
    • Are acceptable in black and white or color
    • May not be duplicated
  • Manufacturers’ coupons
    • For dollar/cents off
    • For free items (except those printed off the Internet)
    • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons
    • Must have “Manufacturer Coupon” printed on them
    • Must have a valid remit address for the manufacturer
    • Must have a valid expiration date
    • Must have a scannable bar code
    • May not be duplicated
  • Competitors’ coupons
    • A specific item for a specified price, for example, $2.99
    • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons for items with a specified price
    • Have a valid expiration date
    • Are acceptable in black and white
  • Soft drink container caps
  • Checkout coupons (“Catalinas”)
    • Printed at our competitors’ registers for dollar/cents off on a specific item
    • Must have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific item requirements printed on them
    • Must have a valid remit address for the manufacturer
    • Must have a valid expiration date
    • Must have a scannable bar code
    • Are acceptable in black and white
    • May not be duplicated

We DO NOT accept the following coupons:

  • Checkout coupons
    • Dollars/cents off the entire basket purchase
    • Percentage off the entire basket purchase
  • Print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase
  • Competitors’ coupons
    • Dollars/cents off at a specific retailer
    • Percentage off
    • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons without a specified price
    • Double- or triple-value coupons

*The following are guidelines and limitations:

  • We only accepts coupons for merchandise that we sell.
  • Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase.
  • Only one coupon per item.
  • Item purchased must be identical to the coupon (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc).
  • There is no limit on the number of coupons per transaction.
  • Coupons must have an expiration date and be redeemed prior to expiration.
  • If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase.
  • SNAP items purchased in a SNAP transaction are ineligible for cash back.
  • WIC items purchased in a WIC transaction are applied to the basket purchase and may not be eligible for cash back. Refer to state-specific WIC guidelines.
  • Great Value, Marketside, Equate, Parents Choice, and World Table coupons have no cash value and are ineligible for cash back or application to the basket purchase.
  • The system will prompt for supervisor verification for:
    • 40 coupons per transaction.
    • A coupon of $20 or greater on one item.
    • $50 or more in coupons in one transaction

So as you can see, they have a pretty awesome Coupon Policy! Some of my favorites are:

-Allow CASHBACK or overage towards your entire purchase if your coupon exceeds the price of the product. If you have a coupon that is $1 off, and the product is $0.97¢, then Walmart let’s you have the $0.03¢ overage! It will be applied to your basket, or given as cashback if necessary!

-No limit on amount of coupons

-Accept Competitor’s Coupons! They must have a specified price, and they even accept BOGO Competitor’s Coupons (with price!)

-Accept Paper Manufacturer Coupons for FREE item!

Walmart Store Coupons

At this time, Walmart does not offer Walmart Store Coupons. But what you will find many times are Manufacturer Coupons that have the Walmart name or logo on them. This means they have suggested you use that coupon at Walmart, but unless it says “Redeemable Only At Walmart”, then you can technically use it anywhere Manufacturer Coupons are accepted. I have personally seen some of both types, so just keep your eyes peeled for the wording on the coupons!

Stacking Coupons

While Walmart does not really have a Store Coupon, if you did find a coupon that said “Redeemable Only At Walmart”, and you happened to have a Manufacturer coupon to go along with it, Walmart would only accept ONE coupon per item. So you would have to choose which to use. This instance won’t really ever come up, so this should not be a problem. But just understand that they only accept ONE coupon per item.

Walmart Price/Ad Match Guarantee

Walmart is committed to giving you all the lowest prices! Like Target, they also have an Price/Ad match Guarantee! Walmart’s PM policy has a lot more leniency in what you are aloud to price match, and in how the policy works! You can view the Ad Match Policy HERE. Here are a few of the highlights from it in red:

We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it.

Right at the register.

We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*

  • Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
    • Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
  • Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
  • Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
  • For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)

*The following are guidelines and limitations:

  • We will match any local competitor’s advertised price.
  • We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor’s ad.
  • Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)

We DO NOT match the price in the following types of competitor ads:

  • Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
    • example: “Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C”
  • Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
    • example: “Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free”
  • Items that require a purchase to get a competitors’ gift card
    • example: “Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card
  • Buy one, get one free (BOGO) ads with no actual price given
  • Going out of business or closeout prices
  • Percentage off
    • example: “All mascara, 40% off”
  • Competitors’ private label price promotions

We do not honor:

  • Ads when the actual price for items cannot be determined.
  • Internet pricing
  • Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
  • “Going out of business” sales or “close out” prices

Here are some of my favorite parts out of the Ad Match Guarantee!:

-We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor’s ad.

-Match Buy One Get One Free Sales with a specified price!

-Match for fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each). This is awesome for when other low price stores like Aldi’s have great produce prices, you can match it at Walmart!

-Keep in mind that you can STILL use coupons with these ad matches! It’s a sale, so using a coupon is just fine!

Other Things To Look For At Walmart

-Look for clearance deals on aisle end-caps and other places. Walmart will usually have sections too for clearance. These have large red “Clearance” signs hanging from the ceiling, so you know where to go. Walmart always has huge end of year, and middle of year clearance deals, as well as back to school clearance deals once school has started. These are great times to stock up on things like Toys, Clothes, Office Supplies, etc.. They also have great post-holiday clearance as well! And you can use coupons too!

-Look at your travel size section in Walmart. Because they do give overage back to the customer on a coupon, these trial sizes will be a great option for getting coupon overage. If you have a coupon for $1 off (with no size limitations), and you find the product in the trial size section for $0.97¢, then you get that product FREE + $0.03¢ overage towards your basket purchase!

Have fun at Walmart, and see you for Day 22!
