Yummy, Yummy!! With Christmas time just two weeks away, I wanted to be festive and make some cookies
Gingerbread cookies have a special place in my heart because I remember the distinct spicy/sweet smell of them as a kid, and watching my mom make them. She had all of the special red button candies and silver beads that were edible so that we could make our Gingerbread men “special”….. I hope you enjoy
3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp. ground ginger, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg, 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup Molasses
3/4 cup Butter (1 and 1/2 sticks)-softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix Flour with ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt in a bowl, set aside.
Cream softened butter with brown sugar and add in molasses, egg and vanilla.
Slowly add in dry flour mixture and beat until mixed.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate 5 hours-overnight.
Roll Out Dough on a floured work surface to about 1/4 inch thickness, and cut out desired shapes.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degress F. for 8-10 minutes.
Makes about 1-2 dozen.
